My Dad used to really want a Marta Rancho (we did live in rural North Yorkshire and participated in shooting sports).

In its original US coinage, “SUV” referred to proper chunky four wheel drives that were plush enough for people to use as cars. An early Range Rover would absolutely fit.

The term being expanded to 2WD hatchbacks-on-stilts came much later.
