I do wonder if Mercedes knew that Max would have 5 seconds taken off whether Bottas would have attempted to get close enough to steal second.

Just realised this. For some reason I thought it was 7 seconds not 3. Interesting.

If it was indeed punishable, this plus Belgium means a Verstappen win by a small handful of points will be a tad awkward.
