Glue it back as best you can then that will tell you how much of a crack there is. Likely very little if it's just a split and nothing has gone missing.

What Stevo said - some PVA wood glue in there (GENTLY open the damage to get the glue in deep), then masking tape or clamp it, wipe off excess straight away, and inspect in a few hours when the glue has gone off. Possible filling/sanding/staining or other finishing etc. required at that stage but it might be almost invisible.
