Bikes in the back of my car get locked together and through a seat loop with a fuck-off lock if it's going to be out of sight for any time.
Not easy to lock surfboards but one reason I don't have a longboard is that my boards have to be able to fit inside. Bikes or boards on the outside, especially on the roof, is a crap solution.
