It was in public (public)Also throw in possible police impersonation too. One should never assume a uniform is legit.
I once had a to-do with a ticket inspector on a train when I asked for some ID, he pointed to a name badge, so I pointed to mine asked to see his ticket, he went a funny shade of red.
