• My wife and I have found somewhere that I reckon has lots of potential, and some really nice original 50s details. We'd almost certainly extend out the back but bizzarely the gardens are all offset, so our neighbour's window looks into our garden. It's just the pantry / cupboard under the stairs, but ideally we'd build up to that boundary wall, blocking their window.

    Can I ask them to accept £500 to block a window up? What's the legal / planning skinny? I've read through 79 pages of this thread and I'm shocked to find this hasn't be answered. Just pink bathrooms and squabbling about hobs.

    Don't judge the back end (matron), it's really a charming little house.

  • take a photo of the view from the window then stick it on the outside before you build - job jobbed!
    it's a bit of a weird one isn't it? are any of the other houses extended on that run?
    might be a good indicator as to if it's possible or not.
