I think if it has history then take the old knife to a maker and see if they can sharpen it a make it useful. Blenheim forge in SE London might be worth a call. Although a bit of googling might come up with something more local to you.
Blenheim forge is really local (and really cool), but in their old age my grandparents have become quite anxious about simple decisions. They’ve requested something new and I’ll probably just do as they’ve asked.
