In the incredibly unlikely event that someone has one knocking around I figured I'd ask the question in optimism...
Would anyone have a left ear Shure SE425 going a begging? Bizarrely the housing on mine has cracked and a chunk fell off into my ear without warning :(
I don't mind what colour it is...

So I ended up with the Dali IO-4 headphones. Even in non pandemic times I flew once every year or two, about as often on a train and virtually never took the phones outdoors (I like to be as aware of my surroundings as possible).
Thus the lack of requirement for ANC. These are definitely not bass-head phones, and many complain that they seriously lack in that area. We’ll see, but obviously some adjustments can be made and I don’t listen to super bass heavy stuff anyway. Nicely built and comfortable (though I will be experimenting with the ear pads) and astonishingly long battery life. Thanks everyone for the recommendations and discussion.

I purchased a pair of the Jaybird Vista 2.
Two days later, I returned them.
For almost £200 they are not worth the money. The noise cancellation somehow manages to amplify wind noise when outside. For running, this wasn't ideal.
The "surround sense" which is to let in ambient noise if cycling or needing to hear what's going on around you (this is how it's marketed) seemed to cancel out the wind sound, but could pick up every drop of rain that hit the earphones. Not something I want living in the UK. The sound quality was somehow better with the surround sense mode than the noise cancellation mode.
The buttons on the vista 2 were easy enough to use and the fit was great. Even on my run they didn't budge.
Jaybird app was good again for adjusting sound through the EQ, but for almost £200 I'd have expected better sound quality, and for the noise cancellation to have been a lot better. -

Don't buy any Sony WH-1000XM3
They are fantastic quality sound, and the notice cancelling is amazing. However the build quality is rubbish, I've had to buy 3D printed arm brackets to replace the ones it came with as they broke, and now they won't turn on, and buy the looks of this reddit thread the wiring isn't great inside so I'm going to have to fix that myself.

I picked up some cheap Airpod Pros (normal ones don't fit my ears), as they are super handy, and using all Mac stuff it's pretty convenient using them to switch between devices taking phone calls etc. Only take them out when I don't have space for my big Sony ones though, I'm not a fan of the inner earphones for too long.

Yeah my choice would have been easy if I could wear ear phones, but I can’t stand the feeling of them driving the sound straight in and most that I’ve tried don’t seem to stay put anyway, though I never looked at higher end ones.

I have a pair which I got for £110 newish (amazon warehouse) recently.
Initially very happy with them, as the ANC was very pleasing and the sound quality very good.
The issues I have are mainly the mic quality, which is shite and that after an hour or so the ANC develops a faint crackle in one ear. This is very common apparently and due to humidity in the ear cup.
I'm still happy with them, just because all BT headphones for that price are shite in some/many ways and these are 90% usable for me.

The ones with a rubber flange (or whatever you call them) like the airpod pros always worked for me, I used to have some standard sennhiesser wired ones which were fine. But never for long periods of time.
Over ear are much better, they just take up so much space in my bag!

Yep, it’s a real commitment to haul full size headphones around.

I'll second this. I tried cycling once in transparency mode, hated it. Normal was okay, but then I'm not a massive fan of cycling with earphones.
I had a cheap small handlebar speaker for a while that was fun, but then found you have to be very selective about what music you listen to, as you are forcing everyone else to it. So I ended up just listening to Classic FM or Radio 4 until it got nicked.

3rd pair of Jaybird Tarah Pro.
Have they changed the build of these in the last two years?
The sound quality is shocking! My last two pairs weren't like this.
Tried multiple different EQs through the app and they all either seem to be either far too bass heavy and you can barely hear the vocals. Turn down the bass and the vocals reverb?!I had the Vista 2 for 2 days last week, sent back. Tarah pros for 24 hours, sending them back now, too.
I'll be avoiding Jaybird from now on.

hey all, I'm looking for recommendations.
I'm looking for over ear wireless headphones for using outside when I'm working.
I currently use earbuds but for some reason the left one keeps falling out which isn't ideal when you're working outside and it's nearly ended up in a bucket of paint several times
I think headphones will be the only solution to this.
Any sub £100 recommendations greatly appreciated.

I think I've narrowed it down to the Anker q30 or q35 but I'm concerned with the lack or water resistance. Has anyone used these outdoors and can comment?

A chance to educate the world surely?

Have you looked at the Jabra 75t and the likes?
-
• #2492
Have you looked at different tips for the earbuds? I had the same issue with the Sony ones I had until I got some different tips.
-
• #2493
I've not tried Jabra, yet. Getting close to one of the only main brands I haven't.
Would you recommend? -

I've tried the various supplied tips with no joy but might try some others. Cheers

Pretty happy with those Sonys I posted a page back, fit is snug so they seal off the outside world quite well, I often leave them in just because of that (and to keep cold wind out of my ears).
Tried a friends Airpod Pros the other day though (never actually used them before) and was amazed just how nice the active noise cancelling is - even without any music playing!
Now I want that 🙂
Looking at the Sony alternative (WF-1000XM3) - which are not nice Apple things obviously but apparently even better with the noise cancelling - and also regarding sound quality (although I thought the AirPods were quite alright). They're also way more affordable..
Have any of you used both, or the new Sonys (the XM4's) even, how did they compare?
Would be interested to hear what you think.. regarding the ANC as well as overall handling etc.
What about Mifo?
https://mifo.co.uk/collections/mifo-o5-true-wireless-earbuds/products/mifo-o5-plus-true-wireless-earbuds ?
Has anyone come across these? They look good, the reviews look consistently solid.
I'm thinking it's my treadmill intervals that have caused two of my jaybird sets to pack in due to sweat. Mifo seem to have a better IPX rating, if not similar.
