I'm over the experience already... The liquid membrane went down yesterday, feels like I've been huffing glue for two days... We had the low odour variant too!

OMG THATS AMAZING BRO. is that your place in Wales? It’s massive!
So much potential there, look forward to seeing what you do.
Is that a living space too? Looks to like you could turn those windows into French doors? You need to keep the bare walls and expose the ceiling beams I’d say! -

Yes! In Pembrokeshire 👍 the never ending renovation continues...
Totally agree on the potential, despite literally every room needing to be redone, once sorted we might find ourselves never needing to move again. (Let's see how kids change that plan...)
Definitely thought about french doors there but we've decided to get the single skin blockwork walls under the window built out to the same thickness of the stone walls either side and put in slate sills. (And new sash windows)
We've got a lime plasterer in currently so he's going to cover all the stone back up again so it will all be hidden but undulating finish so you can appreciate the stone.
Was tempted to leave that end wall exposed and just have it pointed (it backs onto a garage so not really exposed so damp proofing less of an issue) but that wall is in a bit of a shit state so long story short that's getting covered as well! Also our joists above the ceiling there are modern timber nothing special like you'd get in a gorgeous timber framed house in England. Must have been replaced in a renovation decades ago.

At least the bathroom is done
(Bar a few things like towel rails etc. Might need a splash back too at some point...)

Fellow Pembrokeshire-ite here (Parents from Fishguard and Lowertown). Not much family left down that way now, though. I miss it so much.

Not far from there! Fishguard area ~2 miles from the ferry terminal
Newport is bloody lovely, I working there last year . And I usually head out that way when mushroom hunting, some nice woodlands. And gorgeous beach.

Ha! What are the chances, we're over on the Goodwick side of things
I grew up near Luton so only discovering Pembrokeshire later in life. Think you'll ever move back?

I would absolutely love to. I dream of living in Lower Town, or up on the hill in Goodwick.
We (brother and sisters) actually inherited the old farm house at the end of St David’s Place. It expanded and became lodgings for railway workers when the Ferry terminal was being constructed. It would have come to my dad if he were still alive, and he dreamt of renovating that place and had the skills to, having brought our family home in Dulwich up to scratch.
Sadly we had to move it on, as there was just no way for us to keep and maintain it remotely and none of us were in a position to move down there. I wonder daily about what’s happening with it. Let me know if you see any activity down there!

PS, if you haven’t been to Bar5 in Fishguard, there is a terrific terrace for a drink on a sunny evening.

Ha! Had to look that up. Most of the pubs still had the look of the archive footage
the last time I was out on the town there. It was great. -

Just about to start trawling online for a full bathroom suite, any pointers are gratefully received.
I'm thinking bath/shower combo, loo and sink upstairs, and a loo, shower and sink downstairs. We have a cute butler sink up in the loft that we'll probably put to use downstairs.
I'll be on the 2nd least expensive bottle of wine type price scale although could push the boat out if there is something really nice.

I think the plan is to fit them tomorrow then swap them out when new ones are ready. No idea what's happening because now they're saying we can't have sliding doors the width we want them. The whole thing is an absolute cluster fuck.
