I don't have any personal experience, but my otherwise rational but inexplicably Land Rover passionate friends will only go as far as Disco 2. Apparently (disco 3) is a frustrating money pit (this is despite the fact the Disco 1/2 is already a money pit as it rusts), and also just generally worse as a vehicle than a Disco 1/2 or a Defender, unless you want an SUV for town, in which case there are loads of better options already. And this is assuming you want a diesel. The V8s are ok but pretty thirsty and the suspension and electrical issues remain.
Guess they're cheap for a reason? But take above with pinch of salt as these Land Rover nerds are pretty opinionated... they wouldn't take a disco 3 for free except to wreck it and actually do use their vehicles off road.
