That sounds positively subdued next to mine! I really need to sort my clutch basket.

I was given the BMW one when a mate changed brand! Really nice although it sometimes blew the fuse on the accessory socket. It is nice and toasty though.

Bah, went to get my bike out of the garage this morning and the (fairly new) lithium battery is dead! Forgot to plug in the optimate...
-
• #18631
Bobbins. I thought lithium batteries took months to go flat. How long has it been standing?
-
• #18632
About 6 weeks and I was sure I plugged the thing in!
I think they do normally last but it's got a tracker which uses power and is notorious for doing this. -
• #18633
Did you bring the battery up to temperature?
It’s cold in the mornings. The routine is to turn on the lights for a while to get the battery working, before trying to turn over the engine.

The dash doesn't even come on! I'll whip it out tomorrow and get a tester on it.

Oh! Damn!

Good work fella. Take a camera.

Just seen this. I had one when I was doing 180mi round trip on blackbird. Was worth it. But I would have got the jacket if I were buying again.
-
• #18639
Yeah - ended up buying a jacket

Don’t go stiff, keep loose, momentum is your friend, and don’t fill the tank over half!

Gnarly-ish rubber installed. It’s the road version so only so much beef I can fit. Thanks for the tips.
Been following a bunch of good people on the yootoobs. Some you mentioned as well, so great tips.Only issue is to find some lanes for practice

Only issue is to find some lanes for practice
Personally I like the old fashioned OS explorer paper maps, remember them? Found some relevant ones in a local 2nd hand shop for 50p each this week, result. Keep us updated how you get on.
-
• #18643
Beware about out of date maps… rights of access to lanes changes often, and the penalties are quite steep. GLASS/TRF members get up to date resources but you can also search manually on local council websites.

Riding when there's no byway sign is asking for trouble.
-
• #18645
Yep except even when it’s a legal BOAT it might also have a TRO or similar which isn’t displayed correctly.
Even keeping to lanes I know for certain are year-round motorcycle access, I’ve had National Trust season ticket holder type ramblers try to make trouble.

You want this map, but for your locality. I found it searching “wiltshire right of way map” or, “wiltshire byway map”.
Incredibly awkward.
Best bet is to first use the totally out of date bywaymap website, then cross-reference to current OS and council listings to be sure they aren’t TRO’d or restricted.

This is proving quite complicated within the vicinity of the M25.
In other shindigs, took the SV out today for a run. Was a good day for flow. Knee down shindigs near Navestock side. Whole lotta good tarmac.
Days like these make all the shitty ones better. -

Where’s that? Sounds sweet. New belts and panties for a ride tomorrow here if my bloody sinuses clear up.

Essex ways. Autumn riding is banging. Empty roads and all.
Is it wrong that I have an itch to scratch that desmo life, wanna get something ratty to rebuilt and run for summer
You running pilot 2CT’s on that, abs is that a frikking oil temp gauge? -
• #18650
Yup, they were on it when I got it - 4 years old and virtually unridden. They grip fine, I think I'd prefer something a little flexier but can wear these out first. It is an oil temp gauge - not a bad idea but never seems to get too hot.
I used to love a nice day in November!
Gotcha, thought I was missing out on something here haha.
