If you're South London, you're welcome to borrow my corded belt and orbit sanders. You'd just need belts and sanding discs which are cheap from Toolstation/Screwfix. Definitely slower than an industrial hired sander, but at least then you can take your own time and hook them up to a henry hoover for even better dust control.

This looks amazing and definitely confirms what I'll go for re Bona treatments. I can easily borrow an orbital sander and the first room is so small, maybe I'll just try with that in the first place...
