  • Wow

  • Does anyone know Crowborough in East Sussex? Nice place?

  • very hilly, close to bewl water and bedgebury, perfect for load 75

  • Meh, just called the agent and viewings are paused on the house we wanted to see while the owners consider an offer. Crowborough dream dead before it even started.

  • Crowborough is quite nice, very close to tonbridge wells and open countryside etc

  • I know nothing about crowborough but would move there on the strength of the name alone

  • We’ve just had an offer accepted in Tonbridge. Really looking forward to moving out.

  • Depends on requirements, budget, buy or rent. Some areas are really getting above themselves this year.
Newton mearns is fine, most place around Giffnock is fine!
You will find with Glasgow public transport is fine so long as you are staying on your side of thr River, or going directly toward or away from the city centre. As soon as you start trying to cross segments /clock face type chunks of the city you get stuck.
There are honestly tones of pockets of tranquility in Glasgow where you can get a decent flat or house for not mental money (Edinburgh lol) that's well built, not busy with through traffic, well built, decent neighbours and good amenities.
Street we live on in the "West end" though it's really not is just west lol. Its quieter than most rural villages (source = life in rural villages), no through traffic, neighbours are mint, leafy Streets and got a view of the local hills and transport to city centre is good.

  • If you had to get a train in to Ealing/Acton and Paddington, where out west would you move that's cheap to rent and not full of posh shites, breeders and SUVs?

  • That was already the first place on the list :)
2hrs each way though - that ain't gonna happen daily.

  • where out west
not full of posh shites, breeders and SUVs?

    Boston, Massachusetts

  • Fuck. Have you even been to Boston?

  • I mean, that's East, so you're wrong in all the ways.

  • No but I have seen Good Will Hunting

  • It's basically mini London though. Still full of drivists. I was thinking small village, aka, just enough pubs to get thrown out of before they notice and you can go back to the first one.

What's the next stop on the same line out of Reading?

    Tilehurst or Pangbourne

  • They are all full of SUVs and breeders though.

Pangbourne is next, but it is populated with rich fuckers in SUVs and posh kids.

  • I hate this planet

  • I love where I have been for 18 years, Twyford, but am moving to Scotland in Feb. Caversham is also worth a look. Thames Valley is all breeders tho' and no idea what you define as "cheap" rent.

  • Twyford not a bad shout.

Cheap = Cheaper than London. But probably short term or airbnb so maybe the same.

  • The moment you go outside M25 (South/North Circular even) its SUV country IMO.

Its just instead of being close pass'd in a Qashqai with 'baby on board' every 20 mins you'd be close pass'd once every hour in a Volvo XC90 with a national trust sticker.

  • I really like it here. Not as shit as Reading, not as expensive as Wargrave/Henley, 5 pubs, loads of chinese/indian/thai restaurants. Good supermarket. Fast train into Paddington. Bike shop (Bia). Close community with a village feel. Chilterns 10 minutes away. Cracking singletrack in Knowl/Bowsey Hill (shhh).

Really dont know why I am moving tbh - except prospect of retirement/beaches/better countryside.

  • airbnb means testing its rentals?
"This home is not available to anyone who currently owns a property."
