I'm wondering about a single point MVHR for the bathroom like the envirovent heatsava.
Anyone used something like this?

It's gonna be a couple of centimetres, 3cm at the most... I did wonder about increasing the grout spacing but that'll throw everything else out horizontally, atm two walls are almost exactly four tiles wide which soothes my OCD... 🙃

So how do we feel about steel baths over plastic.
-
• #1905
I went metal over plastic. Feels nice. More solid. Holds heat better maybe. Maybe a bit more slippy than plastic.

Holds heat better maybe
No. It doesn't - physics and that.
A good (pricier) acrylic bath will be as pretty much solid as a metal one (cheaper ones do have that wobbly plastic feel) but really it's down to aesthetics. We've an OG 60's yellow iron/steel one, a modern boxed in acrylic one and a fancy copper one. All do what baths do TBH.

Every source/reference I have read claims otherwise, but you're right, they all get you wet and warm.

I think the view of steel being best is old hat now, and that a good quality acrylic is the superior of the two. It's nicer to get into, holds heat more consistently and you don't need to worry about chipping them. Same end goal but I would go for acrylic over steel every time.

Yeah the feel thing gets me and I do like a nice bath, you can get a anti slip coating. But as mentioned before have had a metal bath 'ping' and was refunded.

All the decent plastic baths I have seen seem to need a frame to get that solid feel but then I am looking at sub £200 baths.
Now a copper bath, that would be very aesthetically pleasing to me.

Yeah the chipping thing is a worry, but (yeah I know) last bath I bought was a kaldawei for £80 from builders depot.
The problem is the bath install/location needs to be higher up so something has to be under the feet and the walls are hollow brick.

How many spiders were found?
-
• #1915
No spiders but there was a nest of around 50/60 cockroaches in the wall behind our old linen cupboard... It was disgusting...
They were sprayed to Kingdom Come...

Do they work as far as Devon? Having vague panic about kitchen delivery in Jan and no trades booked.
-
• #1918
What trades do you need? North, East, South or West Devon?
-

South devon. All would be nice, but realistically:
- someone to disconnect gas hob (am presuming I'm not allowed to do it myself) on or before w/c 17th Jan when units arrive.
- someone to install electrics for a new dishwasher on or before the same week - I can probably youtube the pipes and sink stuff
- someone to install induction hob on the 4th feb after the surface is installed on the 3rd feb (assuming that the hob is connected after the surface is down).
I do technically need lighting done, so sparks again, but not sure how much work I have between now and then so no idea if I can afford that too yet.
Also need flooring and some sections of plastering done (to cover up some tiles I plan to take off) before the 17th Jan, but not anticipating having budget for that so gonna DIY.

If it's around Newton Abbot, I used DATEL for a safe 'site' socket, and a complete disconnect of everything else from CU, and checked the earth's etc. Turned up when they said, stayed until it was done even though the quote was for one hour of labour. £160 including vat and parts.
Spartan Gas and heating sorting my gas and boiler next week, been good communication from him so far. -

That's really helpful thanks.

Gavin from Spartan came around and spent 45minutes measuring up and looking at pipe runs etc by torchlight, because, like an idiot, I forgot it got dark so early. (Before I had a safe socket)

nooo! the lead time on windows and doors is horrendous at the moment as well...
hopefully the window company can expedite a new set
Sometimes they also cut the top one as well, if that makes sense?
That way instead of one tiny sliver at the bottom, you have a medium cut tile at the top and at the bottom. It makes it look more symmetrical and less obvious. Depends on the tiles though.
The other option is having some sort of thin contrast tile. Assuming you have a few of inches rather than a cm.
