  • Not resampling just uses whatever elevation data is present in the GPX file. That track for the Dark & White Peak perm works for me, I make it 3896m of climbing for 4AAA. If this continues to fail for you, maybe drop me an email to my AAA address and can investigate further.

Of course, this raises the issue that many perms have been grandfathered in from before this tool was around (as @motoko has previously flagged to me) so the AAA values can vary, it is on my list to address but will require a complete review of all perms, some of which have no GPX track available. Another exciting winter project awaits.

  • The AAA grandfathering can also go both ways. Indeed many old perms never were evaluated.

When I road the Eightsome Reel 1500 this past August, the AAAanalyser actually suggested that I should have got a couple points for the section of the route up in the NW corner of Scotland.

  • My code for locating partial AAA sections within longer rides is the bit I'm most grateful for, before it was a laborious manual process of cutting the track up and so many of these would not have been identified. Now probably half of DIYs that get AAA are these because people naturally ride out from home into the hills so there are flatter start/end sections that pull the overall climbing rate down.
