It was pretty grim, very cold and wet but there was a pretty strong tailwind, hence some decent times and a new CR.

Tom Bell looked seriously fast as he came past me. A decent bit faster than anyone else, and even Andy Feather, so I wasn't surprised that he won it. I was surprised by quite how much, though.
Lots of riders complaining of wheelspin. Mine span a bit twice, but I doubt that cost me many seconds.

Amazing day out, as always. Went very prepared which we were glad of, stayed mostly dry and warm despite 3 hours on the hill in the weather. Quite funny that it was blue sky by the time the presentation happened, will probably add to the legend of the day as the stories of the conditions get more and more outrageous.
Shame that Tom and Bithja missed out on a sub-3min and sub-4min respectively, but I suppose that's an incentive if it's ever held there again. Was sad not to see a forum skinsuit either, but still lost my voice with all the cheering.
Saw some pretty worrying looking people being held/carried back down, hope that everybody ended up OK. Shout out to James Hartley, who we sat next to in Grasshopper in Hope, 3rd Junior and 16th overall.

Sums up my thoughts on Winnats as a climb. It’s spectacular from this view, but riding up it, you see nothing other than the road a few inches from your face.
I go up Mam Nick every time I’m coming out of the Hope Valley.

Amazing, great to see it without cars churning in first gear behind lone cyclists.
Actually just great to see it full of people.

So apparently the 2022 National HC is on Horseshoe Pass in north Wales, but not the main road, some kind of 13% for 8 minutes bastard beside it. Anyone got any facts?

I’ve ridden round there a fair but and from your description, it’s likely to be this road. I can confirm it’s quite a nasty little effort. Feels never ending.

Seeing as this has gone viral today, thought it made sense to post in this thread:
I've been sort of following his build up. Did something happen or just had a bad day?
