  • Fully charge the battery then hold the plug against the engine when you hit the starter button and watch for spark ( it needs to be grounded ). With the plug out you should be able to smell petrol getting to the combustion chamber to verify good fuel supply. As ever, there's some good tutorials for this sort of thing on yootoob.

  • Depends on your appetite for maintenance. I'd say Honda XR250R but know others will have good suggestions too. Only annoying thing is prices are quite strong (for anything) but there are still deals about.

  • Thanks, I have done the spark on the engine block thing with the battery from the other bike and I’m definitely not getting a spark.

  • cheap dirt bike

    Ha. Hahahahaha. Haaaa….. ha.

  • Yeah. I just browsed. The fuckity fuck?!?!

  • That's why I ended up buying something made in 2019. Something 'cheap' seemed about 3k so thought my money would go further buying almost new.

  • You missed the boat massively. I was crazy lucky to get my DR for the price I did, certainly I couldn’t buy another now. For what it’s worth, it was already ‘overpriced’ when I got it for a ‘bargain’.

There are still some deals, but like the trials bikes at the moment, it appears to be that the cheap/old are now overpriced, so you are better buying newer where the price is high but more realistic for age and condition.

  • Anyone got a heated vest?

Bearable but chilly on the 50 miles in this morning. Bike was registering 2 degrees when I was doing 70 on the motorway and I would have appreciated a little extra warmth.

Got the DIN socket on the GS so wondering if I can use that?

  • https://keisapparel.com/ - this stuff is pretty good.

  • I have a cheap one that operates off a usb power pack, recommend them, in fact I was looking at mine yesterday thinking is it cold enough yet!

  • I’ve got a heated Gerbing jacket liner which is amazing - not even got close to having it on full power!

  • Thanks guys.

@Dramatic_Hammer - do you just wear a t-shirt, then the jacket on top, then your outer jacket?

  • Yep pretty much - I’ve seen stuff about wearing a long sleeve base layer to protect your arms but I haven’t needed to.

  • Did my last ride of the year last Sunday, chilly AF in the hills already. Time to snooze!

  • not sure which is better the bike or the photos! the photo of the rear wheel being my favourite

  • Great pics of a great bike. Stay safe Arjan 😁

  • Probably the closest thing to a good deal, considering it’s basically a DR350…. And DR’s are going over 2.5-3 now

  • Went to sportsbikeshop in Harlow on the way home to try on a heated vest. Preferred the Keiss ones and bought one.

Accidentally bought an Array Tour X4 too. Ooops.

    Getting delivered tomorrow.

  • That Beta Alp is a sweet little thing - they never imported them here.

I'd still look out for a DRZ400E. They are built like cockroaches...seriously. I've two friends with them here, one is an ex MXer and beasts his, it starts on the button and has needed nothing other than oil / filter and consumables as long as I've known him. The other had a tuned, big bore 440, that he commuted on, ragged off road, holed the engine cases, boiled and variously abused and it was still running fine when he sold it.

    Keep an eye on this?

  • Much abused DRZ….this ended up as a day from hell….

Agreed... but even cockroaches have been known to get gone.

My mechanic's DRZ400 has needed a lot of work. His stator ate something, his starter kind-of died, and generally the number of times he crashed it meant that things got broken. They aren't indestructible, but I'd sooner own one than a KTM.

Does happen, I accidentally bought one last week and have been thoroughly impressed. Feels better quality than my Array RX7, the wider field of vision is nice too.

Small sound clip, sounds pretty tame still. Quite different irl.

Why are you lot referring to Arai as Array? Or is this one of those islander things I'll never understand? :')

  • Mine was because autocorrect
