Is this one of the validation tools? It's what is linked in my emails whenever I have a DIY validated.

That would be the one... wasn't sure if the URL was being shared beyond orgs.

Ah Hadn’t seen your reply before I posted it, happy to remove the link if it’s not properly public yet. As I say just the link I’ve had on my DIY validation emails so thought it must be ok to be out there but possibly not on a public forum.

I checked and Paul sent me that URL when I'd sent him a DIY he thought might have AAA points. So, it's definitely being sent out to AUK members but might be worth removing from here.

It's become an open secret since the DIY SE organiser started putting it in every email response, so not a problem with people using it. There is a requirement to make it 'official' by hosting it within the audax.uk domain but still struggling to get it to run on their server, will try and pick that up over the winter. Also feel free to contact me directly at aaa (at) audax.uk if you have specific questions about any of the AAA stuff.

Just removed the link from my post as it got the to intended person who was also able to find it elsewhere so no need for it to be there anyway.

Thanks, anyone who wants it at a later date can email me for the link. FWIW, I got a AAASR in the SE last season with The Shark (helpers ride), Dauntsey Dawdle (which only got AAA after I rode it and realised it should qualify), LLEL and a DIY 300. As posted upthread, Greenwich Mean Climb is running as one of the June centenary rides next year, maybe not as epic as Snow Roads but does finish at my house with food and beer. I'll also schedule in The Shark at some point, just hard to predict what state the country will be in around Easter and whether to risk a village hall booking.

Thanks all. Unfortunately it doesn't seem able to make hills where I need them or shift me to where there's hills so... there's work to be done ;)

AAASR should be pretty easy - as it only requires 4 events.
AAARTY (my way, not this cheating with <200k rides) is harder because AAA 200s are not so common the whole year around so I'll need to do some lumpy Chiltern DIYs.
100 AAA when you live in suburban London and have other events to think about is not likely to happen for me but I can give it a whirl.

Wait, what?
Where do I sign.
Oh, it's in June. That's why I've never done GMC. Most of the summer events clash. It has been on my list for a long time.

It's always been in September before, moved it to June next year for the centenary

I'm also mentoring a new organiser that wants to organise another 200 out of London with AAA, think that would be in May, watch this space

You'll get a fancy card and a cocky badge if you do it though! (Like so, but with different dates and "300km" on it)

Yeah then it clashes with Badlands and the year before Transiberica and the year before a 24hr :)
Basically, I'm going to ride it as a DIY in the middle of winter like I do most of the other audax events. It's the only way to really, truly take all the fun out of them :D

Guess I missed the memo with the 200ks and 2021.
I don't have any badges for this stuff, I just like to know I've done the thing, ie. RRTY, check, next.
I do buy the missus badges though. I thought it might encourage her. It didn't really make any difference.

LEL is likely to qualify as well, the recent route check of it done as a DIY garnered 11.25AAA, but that's not the final route.
-
• #10994
Long way to go to get 11 points :)
-
• #10996
If your planned route gets 3AAA in the AAAnalyser then should be fine. If for whatever reason the ridden track doesn't qualify but is validated by the DIY organiser then I'll accept the original route for points.

Cheers for that. No doubt I've routed into a river or something stupid so we'll call this first AAA 200 an experiment. :)

There is a webapp developed by the AAA delegate for him to evaluate gpx files. This works by interpolating the Ordanance Survey's DSM model along the route.
Is this the same as AAAnalyser?

Yes. Pedantically it's actually DTM data as it's based on OS's real world surveying of GB terrain, rather than the poorer DEM data obtained by satellite based radar for the rest of the world.

Okay, thanks. It looks like a useful tool to complement route planning. Should the resample points option be used, as it is switched on by default?
I tried the software with the Dark and White Peak permanent GPX file which fails when the resample option is turned on, but awards 5 AAA points with resampling off:
Results:Total Distance: 204.7 km Total Climbing: 4985 m AAA Points: 5

This isn't in public circulation, but was shared at the AUK reunion a few years ago. @danera could shed some more light or a public roll out.
