  • The Terry Gilliam version;
    The original script was greenlit by Harvey Weinstein.
    Obviously all the other studios have been reluctant to take over the movie,
    and those that were tempted demanded re-writes.
    Jonny Depp had signed on to be the male lead ... and we all know how well that aged.
    Alan Rickman was due to be the generic 'baddie'...

    Meanwhile, Gilliam raised $72M to build a set in Kazakhstan,
    (the Titanium is now being stolen from former Soviet facilities,
    US focus groups did not believe the UK had any manufacturing),
    in order to 'catch' a solar eclipse, but the set was built facing the wrong way,
    so the eclipse will have to be CGI'ed in.
    The latest script has done away with the darts,
    and the Titanium is needed for undersized baseball bats,
    as the film now includes the US winning the inaugural World Little League,
    beating Russia in the final. Or the Chinese. Or the Cubans.
    Possibly with Alec Baldwin as the irascible but inspirational team manager.
