Man I remember when you got that and thinking it looked like a great machine and how happy you were to be upgrading. Sounds like a total bummer and 2/3 x the price of a classic/Silvia and little to show for it. Could you just stick it on eBay after the service and cut your losses?
The Florentine special edition Linea mini looks nice 😉
Anyone else here own a Rocket Appartamento? I’ve had nothing but trouble with mine since 2017.
It inconsistently overfills the boiler to overpressure - spouting water into the tray then all over the place. I replaced the controller unit (under warranty, part was £100!) and it was okay for a month, then carried on.
Now, only four years into its life, the vibe pump needs replacing. I cleaned and back flushed the machine last week and after flushing some water through pulled a shot only for it to take 30s to push through the puck (grind, dose and tamp were dialed pre clean). Vibe pump has a different note to it too.
So it’s going back to Bella Barista for it’s second service and more replacement parts.
I don’t know whether it’s just that the Apartamento is Rocket’s budget machine but, at £1200-1300 I expected it to out last my ten years with a Gaggia baby class. I’m not sure I should have such high expectations…
… when this dies I’ll be getting a proper machine. Like the LM Linea or Decent.
