I'm against ID cards, and I have one, as I come from a country that does them. While it's a bit like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, as we already live in a de facto surveillance society, courtesy of stupid inventions like mobile phones and anti-social media, I'm certainly against the state surveillance version, too. If you think that people in countries where you have ID cards or 'digital ID' don't commit fraud, you're very naïve.
