More gearbox nerdery

• #953
This is boring. Can you tell us some stories about endlessly bleeding Magura brakes?

Intersting. When daydreaming I often consider trying it out. I have a rolhoff on the tandem and its a bit clunky, so a crank gearbox would be the one.
I know Chris strisup was trying a pinion for a bit.

this looks real good. -

I like that
Quite interested by a full sus gearbox bike, but everything I've seen so far is relatively long travel for my tastes. Makes sense I suppose, as extra weight and even the smallest loss in pedalling efficiency wouldn't be popular on a shorter travel XC/trail type bike
This has 184mm travel and a 62.5 degree head angle

Bloody hell, we’re already down to 62 degrees. I swear a couple years back 64 degrees was laughed at.

The owner/builder has admitted that could be a bit slack for the 'mainstream' :-)
"The BREWser in its current form likely won’t ever be for sale, Adam says, because those numbers are not for everyone and aren't the most marketable. Still, it is being used to develop a similar but less out-there REEB frame that we’ll likely see in 2022"

Can’t wait till dammnit buys one…

What about Nicolai Saturn? It has only 130 mm travel.

What about Nicolai Saturn?
That's a very good point, and I'm surprised I forgot about it, especially as I have it bookmarked
-
• #962
That is cool

Nicolai Saturn
It's a big bike, but I'd likely have to spend an additional 750 euros for the custom fit for some extra stack
Or get some high rise handlebars...

65 degrees only! Pathetic. How will you even Chuck it!
On the other hand. Doit.gif -

That's what over 5k for the frame and gearbox? Peanuts in current market.
-
• #966
65 degrees only!
That is with a measly 140mm fork. Barely enough to drop off a kerb
-
• #967
Peanuts in current market
Cheaper still to not buy any more bikes
-
• #968
Oh, now I've made myself sad
-
• #969
not buy any more bikes
That's crazy talk!
-
• #970
And partly why this projects thread has such a low view count
-
• #971
That, and my brakes work
-
• #972
my brakes work
Could be worse.

• #973
446mm chainstays?! Very unflickable
-
• #974
Manoeuvrability not required when you can simply straightline everything
-
• #975
Nicolai Saturn? YES!
I've got an awful lot to answer for D:
