@crow, cheers, that's what I used as a base figure, found one site saying 680mm another 688mm, so went somewhere middleish.
Old school BikeCad is way more enjoyable than using my shit old laptop. @atk, gonna have eyelets fitted, but think 48mm will be without. I'll leave the mudguards on Winston 1, then maybe run this without. Not spoken to Winston yet, he's mulling over my original email and gonna get back to me, so chainstays may go a smidge longer and fork rake / head angle altered accordingly to accommodate 48 and guards if I decide to go that way. @Cupcakes, ooh that's a useful resource, ta.
I should clarify, my post makes it sound like I just looked it up, but I did actually go out to the shed to measure! Always a slightly inexact science when they are on the bike but somewhere in the range of 685-690.
Cool, appreciate that, I think I got bumfuzzled at the bb height because the geo I was looking at (using as a template) was for 42mm not 48mm tyres, so my numbers are right, and having measured bb height on Winston 1 they are very similar, so it won't be a problem.
