I'm slowly warming to the idea of gumwall tyres, especially when they're new.

Gum walls are only for dry weather, they will not ever go back to anywhere near new looking after a ride in the rain, especially the rear and using rim breaks

Bought this Look KG281 NOS a few years ago, and have had it built in different configurations
Lately a part retro build with Sachs New success, Campa Shamal and a varity of newer stuff untill i can find the right parts.

Really well actually. Even compared to modern bikes, rides very smoothly - not so stiff at the front end, but i do not miss any BB stiffness at all ( and i am a 90kg guy…) Used it on a trip to France on mountains this summer, allthough built up with Shimano Dura-Ace 11speed for better gear ratios.

Thanks, yes indeed. Have the pedalarms lying around, but missing chainrings to match and the brakes. Would be nice to have it as complete New Success. It still works really well.

Built my 595 with the last incarnation of SR11 speed. Still fettling with saddle and bars but it’s getting there. Upgraded to carbon bars and very impressed with them.

My Look 595 with the addition of some red Speedplay pedals. Had some good rides on it down in Cornwall recently which has given more of a chance to do some climbing than Essex does. It’s currently at 7.3kg which seems pretty good considering it’s a 15 year old frame
