  • Some. Also affects tarps. Admittedy, they are probably aimed at protecting the ancient woods. But camping is already prohibited in all the locations you might be able to hammock/tarp.
    Also reducing the permitted wild camping areas.

  • I don't really take much notice of this stuff - my version of wild camping is normally super discreet and LNT (and illegal). It's the muppets that rock up in a van, light a fire and leave a bunch of glass and cans and shite around that ruin camping spots.

    Not everything illegal is wrong, not everything legal is right.

    Things like this seem bonkers to me- ancient woodland or not. Of all the threats to ancient woodland in this country, the tiny number of people spending the odd night in a hammock should not appear high on the list. I don't even think ancient woodlands are that "fragile" - there is a reason they are ancient! You've just got to not massively fuck with them / chop them down*.

    *I Am Not An Expert In Ancient Woodland.
