  • I've had it a day & haven't noticed that problem - the camera bar is curved on the edges which might help (no sharp corner to catch on the end of a pocket). I'm not wearing super skinny jeans though so it may depend on your style!

  • I really resent having to buy a phone charger separately.

  • There are groups in China and Brazil who are suing Apple under their consumer laws for selling incomplete products because of it.

Kind of sucks tbh. You have to assume that most people own a USB charger by this point.

  • Pixel 6 Pro here.

First impressions after a pixel 3... It's too effing large.

Aside from that, it's great. Camera bar is not noticeable as the case goes around it neatly making the rear flat and the bar irrelevant.

  • Good on them, does seem weird to me. Maybe if people buy new phones every year or two it's fine because they've got recent wall plugs, but for people upgrading from on old phone it means they can't do fast charging without spending more money. I've got a few other USB plugs around I can try to see if any of them are good enough, then I'll probably end up buying another one.

  • How do you know if your wall plug is new enough to take advantage of the fast charging? I've got various iPad plugs which I assume will be useless and also plug from Huawei P20 Pro, guessing that's too old as well?

Pro scheduled to arrive tomorrow, guessing there's no screen protector in the box either?

Chargers aren't included for free you know...if one was bundled in the box you are still spending more money! SO why not just buy a new charger if you need one? It means that only people who need one have to pay for one.

I don't understand the fuss personally. I've got chargers from devices I bought 10 year ago that can charge a recent iPhone or iPad perfectly well. Anything putting out 2A or more does an ok job.

I appreciate that many phones have super fast charging that require proprietary chargers to attain that fast charge rate but seems a bit environmentally irresponsible to bundle a charger with every phone sold.

  • Just took a look in my parts bin and I have 14 USB chargers that can put out 2.4A or more including four that can super fast charge the latest Samsung devices. I'd be pretty pissed off if I had to buy yet another one next time I upgrade my phone.

  • Yeah, the lack of chargers is a good thing, causes a lot of waste and damn near everything charges phones plenty good enough for overnight charging and if you want fast or wireless then get one of them too, most will get shared around any other phones/tablets/newer laptops in the house/workplace anyway.

  • No pixel 6 for me, realised I'm on a SIM only contract that's actually closer to £10 a month until April and the ee upgrade options are a lot more pricey than the ID ones I saw.

  • I've noticed that EE's device pricing isn't great. Something odd is happening if its significantly cheaper to buy a device straight from manufacturer than to get it through a contract.

  • Pixel 6 here. Very happy so far, it's pretty a similar size to my old OnePlus 6t but more screen real estate. Didn't need the stuff the Pro offered and the value of the 6 was just right. Especially with the headphones.

Anyone want some Bose NC cans? 🤣

  • It just dawned on me that the camera bar/bump is a total non issue in terms of pocket ergonomics if you use the phone in a case, which I would do anyway.

  • I'm not wearing super skinny jeans though

Well it's not 2008 to be fair.

  • I know I shouldn’t, but I do. I’m sorry.

This is however is perfectly timed for my move away from iPhone (again).

Pixel 6 Pro lands tomorrow 🙌🏻

  • It’s like they read this forum.

I’m also lucky enough to get F+F discount which makes my contract less than the device price overall.

  • If you can find a usb port.. they're normally non existent or impossible to reach.

If I'm missing something obvious please tell me, I always pack a Chromecast but rarely manage to use it.

Just checked into a hotel in Essen. TV has side facing HDMI so is reasonably accessible to plug in a stick.

Totally get what you are saying though as many TVs have rear facing HDMI and are wall mounted so there isn't room for a stick.

  • Oh amazing, one of these and a tiny Nic arm and we're golden!

  • hotel in Essen

Never thought I would ever encounter anyone else who had ever stayed in a hotel in Essen.

  • I'm tempted by the pixel 6 as an upgrade to my pixel 3... I've been looking at a smallish camera for on the bike but the camera on the 6 pro looks so good that it's probably not worth getting a separate camera.
just a shame that the 6 doesn't have the zoom lens of the 6 pro - the pro just looks a bit massive.
then again, smaller than carrying a phone and a camera...

  • aside from the fact that spending £600, let alone £850 on a phone is fucking ludicrous

Heard of the Blockchain Hotel in Essen? We had a branding sponsorship with it for a few years until recently.

I'm a bit of a Rhine-Ruhr fan. It started off with football trips to Cologne, Bochum, Dusseldorf and Dortmund but over the last ten years or so I've made a lot of friends out there and now have business links and used to do a few things (blockchain related) with the various universities in the region. It feels like a home away from home now.

  • The external dimensions of the two aren't that different (you can see it in the rear view pics, it's the extra bit above the camera bar) - both are F'ing huge!

  • Just updated to Android 12. WTF is up with the lock screen clock, i hate it!
