If yellow glasses don't work, why are they used in shooting?
Shooters use yellow tinted glasses to improve contrast and depth perception and to filter UV from sunlight. They are also useful in whiteout conditions or flat light conditions in the snow.
From what I have read, there is no evidence that yellow tinted lenses help people driving in the dark or under artificial light.

BTW, manual dimmer works a treat, can't believe I'd never heard of that being a thing before. No need to lift the Mazda now!

I finally figured out how to make the cruise control on the Ford Ranger work today... Adaptive cruise is a bit clever, eh? Barely touched the pedals for a hundred kays... Loads of roadworks as well, very impressed...

Not an argument, a discussion. Doesn't your first sentence contradict your second sentence, about the contrast and depth perception? Have some amber coloured cycling glasses that are useless but the yellow bolle (H&S, not fashion) glasses work well well while driving on unlit roads.
This seems to agree that yellow glasses help blue light effecting sleep https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20030543/
Know that it is one random group, but does bring up some interesting points. -

Probably a long shot, but is anyone selling a Volvo Vida Dice unit, or willing to loan one?

Just going on my experience.
Pros:
- reduced harshness of glare
Cons:
- reduced vision
My motorbike commute used to run the full gambit of roads so I didn't think it was worth having any reduction in vision. Also my clear visor has a photochromic pinlock which takes a bit of the edge of, but results in some distortion. However, that balances out as a net gaim whereas the glasses were a net loss.

Anyone on here into mx5s?
Thinking about picking one up, run it for a couple years and do nc500, some euro road trips etc then sell it on so looking for advice on what model will hold its value best and stuff like that.

Yes. Nurseholiday has/had a unique MK1, and there are a few MK2 owners.

MK2 owner here, not much to offer aside from the usual tips on checking for rust (particularly sills, arches & front chassis legs). There are little drains that have an outlet down by the jacking points that can get clogged and lead to rusting which you need to look out for. Would definitely want a good look at the underside of any MX5 I was looking to buy.
Prices look to have gone up over the past year or two (not sure how much of that is general market and how much is MX5-specific), but most decent looking MK2s that I've seen around still around the £2k mark. Should be able to get most/all/more of that back assuming it's well looked after while you own it.
Also, hard top prices are (pun partially intended) through the roof at the moment. So if you buy one with a hard top and aren't particularly fussed on keeping it, you could probably sell it for £500 or so. Though I'd probably recommend holding onto it for car resale value purposes.

Cheers for the info.
I just joined a Facebook group and prices on there seem pretty good compared to ebay.
I’d seen a mk3 (I think, it was a roadster rather than a soft top) for like £8k on eBay that I’d thought was alright but seems I could get something useful for a good bit less than that.
Did wonder if having a hardtop would be more secure. Where I live is alright but have heard of people having their soft tops slashed.

It is good that we are having a discussion, personally I have never ridden a bike with yellow lenses, just proper safety glasses as I like riding with my visor open. So I want impact resistance as have had fashion glasses smash.
Pinlock visor were an aid to stop misting for me.

@mmccarthy sorry meant you but forgot your user name.
Rust wise the sill is in three pieces so a proper repair is not just a patch on the outside. Floor pans rust too.
Hard top is a pain to store, but soft tops do get slashed as easy way in to steal. Get used to leaving glove boxes and cubby holes.
Engine wise @NurseHolliday is the one to speak to.

The hardtop is undoubtedly more secure, and provides better noise/thermal insulation. But unless it's pissing it down and I'm driving through town, or I'm doing 60mph+ for a sustained period, I've got the roof down at all times. MK2 (and 1) don't have retractable roofs so you've got to lift it off and store it (which is also tricky as a 1 person job), so I never bother with it.
Looks like the MK3s have retractable roofs which is great, though not sure of the impact on boot space. Last thing I'd want is taking a drive up some coastal/mountain roads for the weekend and not being able to put the roof down because my luggage is in the boot.
Edit: Looks like the MK3 roof doesn't really have an impact on boot space, so that's a big plus. Doesn't quite have the same feeling as peeling off the motorway and popping the roof down at 30mph, but probably works a bit better!

Hmm. 'New' car due in a couple of weeks which now I have the details for was pre-registered in July. On a 3 year lease that now means I'll have to MOT and have a third service on which is a pain - not having to do that was part of the point of a new car. Given current stocks, pretty sure I don't have much choice but a bit of a bugger.
What are the views on gap insurance for a lease - worth having or not? Have never leased before but I suppose it depends on my level of risk... -

Hip Hop Slave Mk2 Ford Cortina with a rearranged face.
Slammed-check
Inappropriate wheels-check
Custom paint-check
Can't decide if its a puppy murder or rad as fuck-check
It does have a Lotus badge on the back, but no idea if there's anything Lotus about it other than the badge, don't think I've ever seen a Lotus Cortina in anything other than the classic cream and green livery. -

Terrible panel fit on the boot and bonnet. But with some Dunlop Mag wheels I still would.
