  • Hard to give a confident ID without more info I think (for the casual forager anyway). In order to get started on an ID you need to take a few more photos to compare against the guides. You want the cap, the stem, the gills/pores and the base of each thing you want to identify.

Knowing these things can help rule in or out certain types of fungi. Like amanitas (death cap etc) have a sack at the base of the stem whereas other types of fungi don't.

Getting the habitat is also good like you can see in your photos as certain fungi grow on or near certain trees.

  • I enjoyed spotting these today, need to research more but half if them were all flopped over upside down! Mica Cap apparently.

  • Snowy inkcap, according to my app.

  • Seems like a good year for inkcaps

  • Found some perfect fly agaric specimens earlier. They are such a cool 'shroom. Sadly no photos as I was out on a run without my phone 🥲

  • A few of mine from today. Really enjoyable afternoon

  • Great finds, what part of the world are you in?

  • Lincolnshire!

  • Found some magpie inkcaps at lunch, very cool fungi.

  • Took my phone on a run, came across these bad boys. No idea what they are, need to have a look through the books. Not great photos as it was getting/was already dark.

  • Hedgehogs were out of reach up a hewn rock face, and chanterelle was soggy as hell.

  • So these mushrooms are in the local supermarket.
What mushroom dishes would favour these mushrooms?
