Found it on maps and yeah, the white dashes denote the side of the road and verge but some of it happens to be lane sized and some of that separated by the grassy island bit, actual road is just to the right which is what the signs are trying to say, far from clear though.

Yes, what looks like the left lane isn't continuous along the road, so it's a kind of layby, and what looks like the right lane is really a two way undivided road.
Still confusing though. NB this is on one of the only two conceivable ways back into South London for many of us.

I never got the national obsession with him, either.
Although I suppose I do - I just don't agree with it at all.
Like Stephen Fry. Which upsets me most, as it has me agreeing with Julie Birchill, of all people.

Professor Brian Cox. I lasted about ten minutes into The Universe programme last night. Hardly eternity, did feel much longer. Syrupy, schmaltzy CGI bollocks, dumbed down to The One Show levels of inanity.
Give me Patrick Moore dropping cosmic truth bombs that I can’t understand any day of the millennia.

Give me Patrick Moore
I’d rather stick with the guy who isn’t a racist and misogynist

Sagan = Butthead Astronomer

Yep...but given what Apple turned into it doesn't count too much against him
He also fell in love through making a mix tape for aliens
-

given what Apple turned into
True. And the PowerMac 7100 was horrible. Before (and since Jobs’ return) Apple’s approach to industrial design was 360 degrees and all the way down to the metal. But the 7100 was an underpowered Mac in a PC case.

not particularly a fan of his but he is at least bearable in the Infinite Monkey Cage podcast, I suppose mainly cos his co-presenter likes to take the piss out of him

Some news sources reporting replacement will be Sir Trevor McD.

That makes me like Carl Sagan even more than I already do...
I'd say it's two separate roads, not lanes of one road.
