£162 on eBay right now for front and rear 126 chrome bumpers, which I suspect will be cheaper than having the current rear bumper fixed and re-chromed.

and thanks for that dude. I had seen them on the bay after checking ricambio first.

not a bad price for them both. but then coming all the way from Italy will see the cost go up.

will be keeping the original one and I am encouraged by what @jono84 has shared re his beetle scenario
