Covid case rates in London are among the lowest in the country because residents may have gained a level of herd immunity
-
• #23828
Looking at the map today, most UK cities have comparably lower rates.

Making vaccination mandatory means people quit their carehome jobs in England.
Perhaps Italy's approach is better, test or proof of immunity or free vaccine.
Of course the English government approach is "wait until it's too late, again".

Clearly city dwellers hate other people and avoid them as much as possible.

I honestly can’t understand why we can’t even just make mask mandatory.

Because freedom Ed.

COVID ruled in northern Ireland to be relaxed...have we not learned 🙄
Infections here are driven by unvaccinated under 20s...so school and further education mostly.
Working from home is still recommended here, so no "go back to the office serfs!!!" Which mean the city centre is suffering it's very quiet during the day...
At least the Pfizer jab is going to rolled out next week. But here the vaccination rates are stalling too.

Don't usually try to be condescending. But occasionally for humour.
The Italy (well the area we call Italy now) thing goes back many many centuries and the history of Italy both post WW1 and WW2 is not. If you look up Lega Lombarda/Lega Nord/lega Veneto you will see my comments are a reflection of what this political group is. Never mind wanted to leave eu this group want to leave Italy and remove those that are not from that region. Then they sort of stopped doing that but the party faithful stick to that.

Ok let's wait for the other newspapers then.
They are going by leaks that Whitehall is talking to councils about vaccination passports for indoor events.

That the Spectator backs restrictions per Twitter link may be a good thing, it gives the Cons party some room to act.

It's also rife with misinformation though, and old usernumber up there is happy enough to share seemingly random twitter posters as a good source of information whilst also refusing to click on guardian links in case they catch center-leftness or something. I get the avoiding the sun links because of solidarity with Hillsborough victims, or the mail because it's basically just hate for and clicks (I disagree with them as right wing shit rags too) but avoiding the guardian seems odd, it's gone downhill of late and if you're not much for center left politics it might not be your first choice of media outlet, but it's generally regarded as accurate and honest reporting as far as newspapers go, I'm not a fan of the times but will generally read stuff if it's not paywalled as it's at least got a reputation of generally honest reporting.

But Ewan Birney or Oliver Johnson aren't random no bodies spreading anti mask, anti Vax nonsense, just academics giving middle of the road interpretations of the data
As an avid Graun reader I find it odd not to read one of thier articles but each to thier own, there are publications I dismiss which probably results in me sometimes me missing out of good analysis from a viewpoint I don't normally identify with

Not saying those posters are good or bad, but they are just people on Twitter, which can be great for up to date information, but can also be full of crap, and posting links to Twitter but not wanting to click a guardian link just seems funny.
Italy was hit hard first time covid appeared, and doesn't want the army trucks collecting the dead. The Italian government is doing all it can to get the 12 and up vaccinated.
What other way can a government do? especially when party leaders are not being backed by their party. Then the added disinformation from the media
