• Yeah, take off the plate, eveything comes out for a service! To remove the block, use 2 small allen-heads to fill in where the main part of the pawl sits, and lock the assembly in a vice so that those heads provide an anchor while you rotate the wheel to undo. I use it all the time, it's better than a 2 prong tool, which always destroys the body, and usually the tool too. I think Sheldon may nave explained the technique better than me.

    Or rather, is not such a simple removal situation for a simpleton like me. Consequently this will usually always result in me royally f*cking something up with a valuable component mashed rather than saved.
