Hello, I'm after a 56cm disk frame. I don't need saddle/post/stem/clamp. How much would you reduce without those please. Nat.

And since it's frame only... reviews all says it's heavy but good, just how heavy I don't know. Could you please msg me the weight f+f (+ancillaries) to nmattick@gmail.com. Still reviewing my options, but a Surley doesn't come up often.
Ta, Nat. -

Hi Nat
I wouldn’t say it’s heavy at all. Of course it’s a steel frame but it’s not noticeable heavy.
When I had it built like the pictures it was really well weighted.
Won’t be able to get the info to you until Tuesday as that’s when I’ll be back at work. (Where the frame is stored)

I would drop the bike to £500 without the parts.

Got one of these. It's bloody brilliant. Loads of fun to ride and while not light, to call it heavy wouldn't do justice to how it rides.
GLWS!

Why do these only come up in 56? Someone shrink this to a 54 pls
-

I know right

On a surly the reach is a bit shorter so usually sizing up is recommended.
-

The reach on a 56cm Midnight Special is the same as the reach on a 56cm SWorks Tarmac.…..
-
• #11
Yeah short.
-
• #12
Yet still a longer reach than a 56cm CAAD10/SuperSix….
-
• #13
😂 yeah that’s true. The new cannondale supersix is crazy compared to other bikes in its category.

I was trying to be subtle but that was clearly lost - the reach on a surly is as long / longer than road race bikes known for having particularly long reach geometry; advising someone to size up generally isn’t sensible with a bike, regardless, as you can always make a smaller frame ‘bigger’ with longer stem/stack/post etc but you cannot make a bigger frame smaller.
Especially one that already has a longer reach than most bikes.

Pop by the shop and have a sit on it and then tell me you think.
Its short.
I must recall all the surlys I’ve sold over the years then.

Agreed. Definitely one of the longer/lower 56cms on the market going by the geo charts. Those reach/stack dims are pretty mad/agressive for a gravel bike tbh. And that's before the slack-ish seat tube angle wants to sit you further back, too.
Can understand OP's comments regarding reach with the current flat bar set-up, though. + price seems sensible given condition. -

Yeah they definitely come up long, I've got a 50cm version and I'm sure the TT is like 54cm.
I don't think they're actually advertised as a 'gravel' bike, more or a road plus bike.
When I first had mine I kinda felt like it didn't know what it was. Now it's the bike I reach for every time, quick aggressive(ish) geo and soaks up all the road buzz on 650s with some bigger tyres. Proper fun bike!

I’m guessing it felt shorter because of the lack of drop bars.?

I tried out one of these few years back because I liked the look of it in Brixton Cycles window. Couldn't afford it but it was huge fun.

Yep not a gravel bike. It’s a road plus/all road bike. Feels great on road with the tyre clearance that allows you to include gravel and bridleways on your routes.
I’ve had one for 18 months and love it. Put carbon forks on if you think it’s heavy.
The front end geometry is brilliant. More big tyre bikes should do this.
