  • Well just because TIG is an easy an solid way to join two tubes (with a sleeve). I just brass because I wanted to use the capillary action to join new seat tuba and old seat tube. The old seat tube is very thin wall and where I am joining the two is likely in the middle of a butt and I didn't fancy my chances tigging that

  • All of this makes much sense in my nuggin!

Next time it breaks I am going to start over tho ;-)

  • Thanks for the explanation, it's always nice to understand why one technology is used over the other

  • You are on fire.
Kona, cargo and Cargo mtb looks nice. Dibs rack when you are done with it.

  • You are welcome

  • Thanks and sure thing

  • I miss riding my bike sooo much.
I've never been out for this long before and I just feel shit about it.

I am trying to live it out through my daughter and focus on other things, but it is hard. I just wanna go mountain biking πŸ˜‚

  • Beautiful photos.
Quick question, was the frame colour matched to her boots, or boots matched to her frame?

  • You'll be back on a bike soon enough!
    If you can ,
use other sports to maintain stamina.
Swimming was mentioned earlier, kids can always use some time in the water at this age,
    you ll be their raft/motor.
    Cheat ,use fins!
    Walks, runs possible?
Or just build a parent child tandem for our viewing pleasure.
    Thanks for all the sharing.
    Get well soon.

I just stick my trainers on and run. Probably ran 2-3 miles this afternoon while my 3 year old smashed out some brutal hills, gravel paths, some skids, a high-speed downhill wipeout and various improvised routes into the woods!

Edit: wait, did I miss that you can’t ride for some reason and probs therefore can’t run either? Apols if so.

  • Thanks Jon.
We do love that yellow at our house. But it is a bit random that they match.

  • Thanks. We have been talking about swimming. It would be great for my body no doubt and my daughter loves it. But I think it is a bit too time consuming to go there, get changed, swim, change back... Especially with my daughter it would be a bit complicated. My wife commutes and works late these days so all the parenting and cooking is on me right now. What we have been doing instead is that I go to the gym after we've tugged our daughter. @simba has done me a program I follow for core exercises with some warm up to start with.

But it doesn't give me the same satisfaction as cycling does. Mountain biking gives me fitness, fresh air, brain restart and adrenaline in just 1-2 hours of cycling. I really don't like being indoors. And both swimming and gym is indoors.

Tandem or something similar will happen one day

  • I have some sort of inflammation in the knee. Rest hasn't been successful so next step is a MR scan in the beginning of November.
I am not sure exactly how it happened. But my guess is a blow to the knee and then that has turned in to inflammation because I didn't listen to the pains. I just kept on cycling because I was starting to get good at it again.
I had a couple of century rides in June and then bikepacking with my girl on the cargo bike in July...

  • cooking is on me right now

RIP wife & child, I will miss them

    πŸ˜‰

  • Lol I'll cook you if I ever get the chance again

  • In non cannibal news:
Got hold of some 26" inch 100mm travel Reba's for the GT Ruckus ssmtb. They were pretty cheap, has 250mm steerer and are in super good condition. They are pretty rare in black and with that much (straight) steerer so I feel blessed

  • I am glad I didn't drop this straight off at the painters. I just realized that I forgot to add cable guide on the NDS chainstay.

Once I've added that the total list of modification looks like this:

    • postmount disc brake tabs added (really pleased with how they came out)
    • new curved bridges allowing for more clearance
    • cable stops for rear brake caliper removed
    • downtube/headtube gusset added
    • internal brake cable routing in downtube. Never retro fitted this to a frame already build, but it went surprisingly well.
    • internal dynamo routing

  • Had some slight progress on the Kona Penthouse this afternoon.
Polished the bars and mounted the front mech and levers

  • I this getting some silver mudguards?

  • I don't know. It really should shouldn't it. This was supposed to be done for our August ride so plans never included mudguards... Paintjob took forever
