Never seen a straight stay on the brake side of the fork, mine have always been intricately bent in an S shape. Lewisham Cyclery fitted them for only £9 (!)

They the 35s over 28c? Looks great
-
• #5154
In this case they are part of the frameset and come already fitted like this.
Maybe using a 180mm front rotor pushed the brake a bit too close.
-
• #5155
yep. a smidge more clearance/coverage would probably be better but this seems to work ok!

It looks like a longer mudguard clip would solve the problem, if the stay cannot be bent into shape.

Are there any of those clip on, ass saver type mudguards that are remotely decent? I've got full guards on my main bike but want something for my polo bike so that I can get to and from the court without getting a wet arse/feet but take the guards off when I get there.

I haven't seen any longer ones but I could put a longer plastic spacer under the screw, for now heat shrink on the stay will have to do.

I would spend abit more and get a pair of Raceblade Pro XL. The flaps slightly short but easy to DIY some longer ones.

He said decent...

Missed your reply, thanks for the tips! I will definitely try adding leather washers between the mudguards and the frame when I get the chance.
I think I also need to re-radius them, they're too big for my tyres (50 mm Berthoud with 32 mm GP5000), so I pushed the mudguards in so they follow the tyre, which isn't good.Regarding contact points, I've got a third mounting point on the front (custom rack for my Edelux) which has definitely helped.
I'll let everybody know what I did once I'm happy with the noise level :)
And once again thanks @motoko as well!

If you want to be really happy with the noise level you will have to shut down the Di2 :)

Hmm, they would probably be better than the single flap of plastic style guards in terms of protection, the downside might be ease of installation and removal. I guess there's got to be a compromise somewhere.

I guess I'm after "less bad"
-
• #5165
After the intial setting up (about 5 mins of adjusting) they take about 30 seconds to install/remove each time. It's just a rubber strap to stretch around the fork legs and seatstays.
I use to have an ass saver/mus guard on my work bike, but found them useless and bought a pair of Raceblade Xl's and never looked back. Been using the same ones for 4/5 years now.

Aha maybe I should actually pair it with some Cosmics!
-
• #5167
Maybe that's my best bet then, I hadn't thought of them at all. Cheers!

Recommendation for a suitable mudguard for a 26 x 2.5 tire that isn’t as hideous as the sks 75 u long?

Touché!

Proper mudguards on this, is it at all possible? I'd like to stick a set of 45 Bluemels on (tyres are 38c) but clearly there are a few issues:
No eyelets - hoping that's an easy one to solve with some of these VO bolt on eyelet mount things?
No rear brake bridge mount - I'm thinking a p-clip around one of the seat stays, might be tricky to get it centred but hopefully doable?
tight clearance and no chainstay bridge mount - make a couple of holes in the guard and zip tie around seat tube? There's about 6mm at the tightest point so hopefully just about enough to clear.
Front one should be easy enough but rear seems like a right faff. Thoughts? Any better options?

the axiom mudguard runners or the blb mudguard mounting kit should fix the mount issue
a zip tie around the chainstay bridge will sort that bit
four drilled holes (two either side of the guard) and two zip ties (one around each chainstay) should sort that.
But that tyre clearance at the seattube just looks too tight - perhaps you might need to fit a half link to move the wheel back a bit -

ive installed fenders on one of these. I used
- canti post rack bolts: https://velo-orange.com/collections/rack-hardware-and-accessories/products/canti-brake-rack-mounting-bolts
- r-clips: https://velo-orange.com/collections/fender-parts/products/vo-r-clip-4-pack
- and a cut down fender stay that just looped from one canti post to the other.
EDIT: this was the original hack, but when it came into my shop I "fixed it" https://www.instagram.com/p/BQWQlVBjdw4/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Cheers both, probably right about clearance being too tight so I'll hunt down a half link. Hadn't even considered using the canti posts so thanks for that.

Previously I’ve cut the centre of the guard out to sit around the seat tube, wrapped the tube in tape and it’s been good. If you sneak up on the cut and make it a touch fit, it looks better than ok and is water tight. One had too little left after the work so I glued a spoke inside each side on the return. Hope that makes sense. (No pics as they are loooong gone)

Hello, your Strael looks great with the guards! I also have a Strael 3.0 and I'm in the process of fitting mudguards to it. Did your Strael come with the bolts for the eyelets? Or did you get them from SKS or somewhere else?
I just found the source of noise on my metal mudguards. The front stays are very close to the disc brake mount and ever bump made them vibrate slightly and make an annoying metallic noise.
