  • what’s not to like?

If you think a typical German bike is cool, does that mean the German think our mudguardless, reckless and marathon pluslessness hybrid bike is cool?

  • I found these, but I’m not paying €149! Think I’ll see what I can fettle with some round stock. https://www.simplebikestore.eu/en/schindelhauer-mudguards-with-pannier-rails.html?id=215593737

  • You have to get though 2 sets of gates to get to the racks and it’s pretty well over looked, so most don’t even bother with that level of security.

  • That’s stunning, really nicely balanced

  • Mmm thats pretty good

  • But is it just for show? Tricky to get the bottle out when you're riding, and the saddle bag straps are dangling on the tyre.

  • Ask @popdown it their bike...

  • not the owner of the bike but...

straps are hanging to the tyre yes, but not to the spokes so it shouldn't be an issue. Limiting facto with the bottle is the frame not the bag, and it's really not that difficult to get a bottle out at an angle.

  • haha if it was just for show i wouldve sorted the dangling straps. The carradice was empty at this point. And the water bottle is easy to remove and replace while riding :)

Its annoying Genesis placed the bottle mounts so high up the seat tube that I needed an adaptor to get the cage low enough to clear a 1l bottle!

  • Just for show, and riding across continents

  • the saddle bag straps are dangling on the tyre.

Once the length is adjusted to the volume of the Super C/Audax saddlebag contents, the ends of the straps easily tuck back round into their buckles allowing the bag to be opened with just the quick releases.

  • Can't go wrong with a Romanceur:

  • Really like your tall fork bags/nice to see the changes you made after tour divide.
The carradice as food carrier makes a lot of sense, that was my main problem with only Bikepacking bags, always ended up with a small backpack after shopping.
Especially on warm days when everything was filled with clothes.

Also, what are those nice silver cranks?

Not very functional mudguards. Is the restriction the tyre size? Other Steamrollers seem to be able to fit full-length mudguards.

  • It's a junior Lee Cooper track bike posing as a Steamroller. Tokyo bike do 650c guards if i want to get braze on's for them but the weight of this thing is getting a little silly. That hefty Rasket should get transplanted onto the XS Condor frame i have hanging on the wall with proper guards. But then it won't be a budget runaround and won't be useful for popping the shops.

    Ah, that explains it.

The purple, black and silver combination of frame and parts looks nice.

  • My winter commuter with offroad wheels.

Got some tubeless halo gravel tyres on my other set - clearances on the mudgaurds are huge though as I step down from 2.2 inch to 38mm.

  • Thanks. The fork bags are actually from some folding chairs. Sadly the mud and rain wore some small holes where they rubbed against the black burn fork cages.

And the cranks are just basic SRAM GX plus oven cleaner.

  • Ah, thought they might be something normal that you made silver.
Folding chair bikes makes the bike even better!

  • A new Velo Orange Rando is coming. Looks promising.

  • That looks really nice. Riv roadini vibes- if a little lacking on tire clearance in comparison.

  • shame about rim brakes
