It's just another one of those display pieces that LEGO's been doing a lot of. Quite a lot of people seem to enjoy a LEGO one-off so they can put it on their mantelpiece/wherever.

All Lego recently has been a one off, that's how they sell them.

The last time I saw multiple build instructions was the first lego Technic car.

Yeah. That is the gap between kid stuff and new stuff.

As well as Creator 3-in-1, many recent Technic sets have B model instructions either in the box or available to download
