  • Could be

It’s either snow or just the general accumulation of grimness found in most towns and cities on the wrong side of the Pennines

  • Very short stem on the first bike

  • Wow, I fell upon this post and loved reading about Arnold. He was a kind gentle man who helped me considerably and in 1985 (I was 14) he invited me to his house on the Mount to show me how to build and sort my own wheels out. He gave me tips on racing and training that I still remember to this day. Seeing Arnold turn up for the occasional Clifton club run was a great sight on straight bars. He is fondly remembered and left his mark on the old school in York.

  • Aah fantastic

That’s what this thread is all about.l so I’m glad you found it!

I must build the Elsegood back up….

  • I'm from York (and actually live about. 1 min walk from where you were on Lord Mayor's Walk).

It's definitely what is now the Giant shop. It's always been a bike shop for as long as I can remember (I'm 49).

Don't ever remember it as Elsegoods but it was home to well loved LBS Bob Trotter's for years before being the Giant shop.

  • I can't help read this thread title and think
