I’ve got these - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cycling-Gloves-Windproof-MTB-Road-Bike-Handlebar-Mittens-Hand-Warmer-Cover-Mitts-/313485969994?
Made from neoprene/wetsuit material. They work really well and a few people have bought them after seeing mine. Plus random people ask about them.
I’m a courier and got fed up of wearing gloves - never waterproof for long/not working on touchscreens/annoying to take on and off. I never have to wear gloves with these handlebar mitts. Combined with some gloves your hand will be toasty.

Oh nice! I reckon I'll give some a punt then.

Wow, you can get them for drops! I'll get some.

I also have two pair of the Giyo ones, one for flat bar, one for drops. So cozy but it’s often too warm for them!
I love when it’s super cold and you’re riding with them and thinking “hmmm, bit milder today” then you pull your hand out to signal for a turn and realise no, it’s still fucking baltic, just the bar mitts are that good.

IMOGEN2020SOKZ
Just ordered some of their overshoes.
Can confirm the code still works - thanks for the free socks! -

Got some Spatz Glovz, the ones with a sewn in lobster cover, and other than the shit name these have done me two winters, with a merino liner on the coldest days. Not waterproof though. Got their shoe covers off the back of the gloves being good, and they’re also the best I’ve found, if a bit fragile. Get some neoprene repair glue.

Out with the Defeet Woolie Boolie gloves this morning. Nicely took the edge off

I have Reynauds and am out on the bike all day every day regardless of the weather. Too warm is better than too cold I reckon!

Re: Bar mits/pogies etc. Is it a ball ache not being able to get on the drops with them, or on the flats of the bars?

I wondered that but thought they would be worth a punt. I'm on the hoods most of the time, but I'll let you know when they arrive.
My other concern is if they fill up with water when it rains.

Last year I got sick of cold hands and bought the sealskinz mitts. They worked but are basically overkill most of the time. Looking for something 1 level down from that... Thinking sealskinz extreme cold cycling gloves, but not seen in stock yet.
Galbier barrier gloves were meant to be restocked y'day but I never saw them...

They're seriously good. When I bought them I thought they'd last a week but two years later they're still my go to. Not cold enough yet though

They are definitely more for commuting/riding to the shops where you are likely to be on the hoods all the time. You can sort of use the drops but you can't access the brakes easily, same with the tops. Riding on the drops/tops with bar mitts is not something I would recommend for safety reasons.

I'm in the market for a new pair of gloves this winter and the thing that gets me every time is that when I do the plam measurement jive they always use for sizing I usually come up medium. But then I actually wear the gloves they're usually far to short for my fingers and particularly my thumb. I could order a size up but then i'd just have a lot of excess glove that I don't need. Any winter gloves that have decent sized finger/thumb space?

Thanks for the feedback on the bar mitts. Thinking they may not work for me, I like to switch hand position a bit.
-
• #2418
They also don't work if you have exposed gear cables, which I didn't realise.
-

Excellent point which I hadn’t considered and is relevant as my tiagra brifters have the cables coming out the side.

A mountain walker's favourite, I use the Buffalo pertex/pile mitts on my Brompton in snowy/sub zero conditions and I have been nice and warm. They are light, totally breathable and work in very damp weather:

I confirm the attached set up worked quite well on my test on the motorbike yesterday.
3 hours, 13 celsius, lots and lots of rain, and 100 kmph worth of windchill. Slightly chilly finger tips in the end, but nice and dry. Using the controls was i bit more fiddly, but not too bad.
I will switch the middle component from vented summer gloves to normal lined gloves during the winter (bicycle) commutes. The outer mittens are british army issued and supposedly gore tex.

I have Goretex overmitts kinda like those above and they delaminated after fuck all use. I wouldn't buy them again.
I'm trying to get my shit together for winter well ahead of time! Has anyone used handlebar muffs before? Full Deliveroo scooter rider vibes. I've got a new job since last winter and I spend about half the time riding a cargo bike and the other half of the time assembling bikes outside so need some dexterity. I thought muffs to keep my Reynauds stricken hands warm between stops and a thinner pair of gloves to allow me to fiddle about when I need to could be a good shout. I'm talking about this sort of thing.
