- The difference between Columbus SL and SLX is SLX had spiraling ribs on the inside of the of some of the tubes. This spiraling extended up from the end of the tube only a short distance and was purported to increase the frame's stiffness. If you stuck your finger up the tubes from the bottom bracket you could feel the ribs. There was a weight difference between the two models, with SL being lighter, by a miniscule 34 grams. I doubt you'd be able to tell the difference by a comparison ride.
