  • The old girl passed her annual MOT today with reasonably flying colours; just a follow-up in a month for possible blood tests to see if she’s anaemic. Her heart is good (always a worry with coonies) and she has excellent teeth. She’s showing her age though, so regular checks-ups for her in future. She did her usual trick of flattening herself out on the exam table like a halibut and trying to discreetly slide off the edge into my hoodie pocket to hide, and as usual it failed. I must video it next time, it’s very funny but quite sweet. But she’s back home in her favourite box, and for now all is well.

  • So beautiful! How often do you have to brush her? My cat has got a few dreadlocks forming in her giant ruff as she hates to be brushed on her chest.

  • Thanks! At least once a day, but happily she adores being groomed, she’ll come trotting over if I pick up her comb. Sometimes it’ll go on for 15 minutes and she’ll get so heightened that she’ll nip me, very gently. She’s sat next to me right now after being combed and fussed, and she’s now grooming herself. She gets right into her fur with her teeth and makes a noise like a truffle pig.
She does get the odd mat in her fur, usually from some garden detritus getting stuck, but as she’s got older (she’ll be 13 next March) her fur has got drier and more fuzzy and it seems to knot more easily, especially in her ruff. But it’s not an issue really, because it means we can just groom her more :)
