It's a bitch and mass is your friend. Once you've done it you will hear sound travelling through the walls and staircases etc.
I've done it for building regs with double plasterboard underneath and rubber mats with foam cores above. You can also get an insulation with rubber matting woven in it which is eye-wateringly expensive.
Does anyone here have any tips on soundproofing a suspended timber floor? There's a useful guide here, but it would be good to hear from anyone who's done this, or had it done.
