I believe these are hot property, you'd be guaranteed a great sale anywhere apart from here...
Try the golf club thread ? :) -

Early Rider are a little bit golf club. A Kokua might be a good alternative
-
• #6
Cheers both... I'd just been recommended the early rider as it's light and I can foresee me having to carry it a fair bit once we're out in the field...
-
• #7
definitly that's a plus, you will have to carry it.
but to be fair all aluminium 14 bikes will all be the same weight, roughly. islabikes are the ticket if you want good quality, frogs after that, equally as good but less mumsnet. -

Squish is worth a mention

I'm new to all this... is mumsnet a good thing or not a good thing? also golf club, I assume this is not a good thing, I don't golf... cycling is the new golf...

They're all good bikes that have been mentioned. I think sometimes it's not worth going for the most expensive thing as they grow out of the bike and you'll be buying again in 2 years time. But if you can afford it, why not, some brands like Isla hold their value quite well.

@psg1ben cool, cheers - in two years time the smaller one will inherit it and was hoping that second hand would be reasonably affordable... generally though they all seem on the expensive side considering the quality of what I can get for that money in my size! (old steel frames etc)
The neighbours, who've donated all balance bikes to date, have a frog and an Isla, my boy is now a similar size to them so it's unlikely we'll be getting any more hand me downs, hence being new to buying kids bikes...

I’m also looking at the Belter 14 or Seeker 14 (I think the latter is more off-road focus, debatable for a 3yo whether that should be a consideration).
Also in the camp of having 2 kids 21-months apart so for a while the bikes will get a solid hand-down use, making the prices easier to bear! Will probably get new with that in mind.
Will look at the alternatives mentioned too. -

I don't know what they've got now, but after having Isla and Frogs, I found that Wiggle/CR Vitus children's range good value.

The Early Rider Belter also has the distinct advantage, hinted at in the name, of being belt-drive which is both marginally lighter and a lot less messy when you've to carry it, sling it in the car etc. And as stated, all these hold their value
-

They're great bikes - the weight, for one, but a belt drive for kids is a no brainer.

^ Ha - what they said.

yeah, I'm holding out for a belter - cheers all! if anyone has one to move on please let me know! birthday is looming!

Ended up buying the Seeker new from Balfe as delivery times on the Belter were past the birthday date - also the two ‘14”’ seekers I was bidding on were pulled as they were actually 16”…
Cheers all,
Matt
Hi all, as per title I’m after an Early Rider Belter pedal bike with either 14” or 16” wheels
Let me know if you have one for sale
Cheers
Matt
