I thought I'd include in the photo the reason everything takes 10 times longer.

It's just the twin slot system from Ironmongerydirect. Nicked the idea from Senorbear (no longer of this parish). The boards are pine from skirtingboardsdirect, I gave them two coats of UV stable teak oil from Liberon.
I had ruled out that setup for alcoves
Why's that? Just for looks or some other concern?

Need a tool tote bag, something to carry a few screwdrivers and a few pairs of pliers and pipe wrenches/dogs/whatever you call them.
Can usually organise them into one of the holster pockets on my trousers but if you’re moving around it’s annoying AF.
This makita looks ok but is probably too large to be convenient.

The Klein looks nice, and I'm always impressed by the quality of their material products - few of the guys at work have Klein tool rucksacks and they're bombproof. Particularly hefty zips.
But £70 for an 8 inch tote seems a little steep.

Also tempted by replacing my main toolbox with an A frame organiser like this:

Something like this? https://vetopropac.com/tech-ot-mc/
I bought a pro pac large recently and it’s built like a brick shithouse.

Veto gear looks absolutely banging, but £155 is pretty steep, even for me!

Comes with a nice free bag at the moment tho.Think this guy is what I'm after, and a bit more realistic price wise (£75).

That’s what I have on me 90% of the time, so don’t need or want something too big. Just want to chuck all that stuff into something so that when I’m working I can have it beside me rather than carrying it or having it all on the floor around me.
I’ve downsized from my usual assortment of Bosch L-boxxes into that old Stanley one as I have to take it to and from work everyday. It’s not particularly convenient, and it’s awful to carry when it has 20+ kg of tools in it.

I went with Plano, or Technic. 2 large ones clipped together back to back so they always stand up.

Been working well enough for me for the past year. I looked at the Veto range but they all start out heavy and expensive. The TP5B does look like a good choice from their range though.
Another good one from Technics which I get a lot of use from is the bum bag. Great for holding components and a meter + small tools while you're working on CU's or switches.

Interesting to see that this guy has a very similar selection of tools that he loads into the same tote.

We're all carrying a very similar selection of tools. I keep adding stuff to mine for different jobs, must be 10-15kgs now!

These are exactly what I'm after I reckon! The bumbag is what my colleague uses, and I always wondered why the shoulder strap was so weird - turns out it's not a shoulder strap in the first place!
The kickstand, the driver holders on the side (which they've put the interchangeable wera drivers into, exactly like how I'd use it), the goldilocks size, shoulder strap, tape carrier and cheap price definitely make it a front runner atm!! Top tips as always, cheers man.

I think not having a tote for the first few months has actually been helpful as it's killed my habit of carrying too much around. Same goes for the downsizing to a single toolbox - which I could probably downsize a bit more now. My main aggravation with my Stanley box is that my 18v drill just doesn't fit in it conveniently at all, but I also want to keep it semi locked away to stop my colleague abusing it, lol.

You're welcome. It's a shame they don't really work on their own, it's only clipped together that they stand up everytime all the time.
I found out some weird hack when I started buying them. Screwfix were delivering the large model when you ordered the small one. Of course I bought a load of them at the much cheaper price. I checked screwfix and they only have the large one listed, it's on clearance too but not reduced.
The bum bag is really great though, even useful for something to chop the ends of wire into.

While we're on tool chat, I've also been eyeing one of these - smaller size and a bit lighter than my normal big framing hammer that I no longer have any use for now I'm not working in houses, or with any wood at all really :((

It might be. I'm swapping out the fused spur for one with a boost timer in any case, so I can check properly then.

It doesnt look like there is, but I haven't dismantled it at all.
It doesnt actually look like it's meant to be dismantled either.

Taken a million years and I'm only ⅓ through, but it's finally a start. All thanks to my amazing OH taking the kids out for most of the day and giving me a pass to just do stuff I want to do.
Still thinking through whether I'll stick with my design or modify it. I feel it may be a bit high for me once I get a work surface on, but the wood stock I had and the minimum height underneath I needed dictated it.
Here's the before pic. Obviously almost all that is going to have to be dumped back in for the time being.

Good start! This is what was supposed to happen today but the trains are all fucked so they came back early and mini_com was napping so I couldn't do the loft stairs.

Same. Heartily recommended for anyone in a live-in renovation. About a tenner a metre, posted.
Don't suppose you have a link to the relevant kit?
520Pro?
There seem to be lots of potential bits.and options.
Cheers.
