    The calipers are aluminium, lever brackets might be glass filled Zytel as Wienmann certainly had that technology back then.

  • Yeah, I remember seeing Ofmega plastic derailers years ago, they blew me away, seemed such a sketchy proposition.

    Not nearly as sketchy as the idea of plastic calipers though, although I'm surprised carbon ones aren't more of a boutique thing

    Carbon fibre brake calipers have come and gone a few times in various forms, see the recent chat in the Orient Express thread, https://www.lfgss.com/comments/16165083/incontext et seq. The material is basically good for the application, but the benefit over forged or milled aluminium is tiny compared with the enormous cost of manufacture. If the demand curve never crosses the cost curve, the manufacturer had better cut his losses and try something else.
