10spd (Centaur carbon groupset) shifter question if I may?
When I drop the rear mech into the lowest (largest) cog, then try and shift up, the ratchet in the lever doesn't engage; so I end up having to tug the cable to get it to click up / engage.
It happens whether I'm in the large or small front ring.
Where's the problem likely to be? Cable tension, the mechanism in the shifter body, gremlins?
Of course I should really just not use the 30t cog and htfu, but I'm tired and old.
All suggestion welcome.
Sounds like the shifter ratchet is dead. A very common problem with 10spd when campag switched to cheap vinyl for the ratchet material. I’ve had to replace a veloce set for this reason. I think you can get it repaired if you have the time and willpower.
Just a thought but I think 29t is the recommended max for Campagnolo short cage so 30t might be causing some issues unless you have a medium cage, maybe look at B tension screw should be about 5mm gap between cassette and jockey wheel?
