  • Karate Monkey owners. Not sure whether to go monster cross or riser bar with mine. It would be for long xc rides around the SE of England. How have you set up yours?

  • Looks like fun :)

  • Serious xc or jump this hop that?

    Stooge moto are hella comfy

  • dialed my KM. Just finished a home made full frame bag for it too. Such a fun bike

  • Neither. Weekend rides around hills and bridleways.

  • Finally got around to making the switch to carbon forks on the 'do most things' bike.

    wtf is this sizing?

the 56 has the stack reach of a tiny ass bike, but the 58 is a true square 58?

if i want the 56 the headtube is no taller than a stack of pennies, but the 58 has a stand over which would not be ideal if one had to either willingly, but more dangerously, unwillingly dismount

pulling up the nerdy geo sites it's about the same size as my 58 kepler which was FINE a bit bigger than my old 2012 caadx

i mean the 58 should be fine

but why is the 56 so weirdly small????!?!?!!?

anyone who's about my height want to plug in on this please feel free

i've read so many old posts on other forums of people losing their mind over this exact thing

  • It's amazing how a straight-blade carbon fork completely changes the look of the Midnight Special.

  • I'm 6' and I went with a 58 based on standover (I have a 32.5" inseam.)

Having owned a 58 and ridden my friends 56 quite a bit, for me it was down to riding style/position: If you wanna do more rowdy/offroad/aggressive stuff, go with a 56. For general use a 58 is probably better given the taller headtube so long as you can clear the standover.

  • I'm 1.80 metric metre like you and in my (disappointing, I must add) ) Surly experience I'd say go for the reach that suits you and expect more spacers than you'd have had with a more traditional geo.
Basically think of the TT being dropped down, more than the HT being short.

r u new to surly? All of their geo sucks. Mainly for spacer lovers.

  • Buy a pacer

  • My buddy rides a 56 and he’s a about 5’10.

  • uhhhhhh excuse me the xcheck is a culturally significant bike, it would not be so popular if it was bad and designed by people who have no clue how the human body is sized!!!!

i think i will go 58, thank you for input all

@atk they dont even sell them anymore and merle decided she likes hers :(

  • Ooft great build, pretty much what I wanted to build. Glad to see the bars going on something worthy!

I notice that your stem face plate doesn’t partially cover the stooge logo. When I mounted the bars the face plate covered part of the logo.
I think I read that stooge claims the logo will change with the weather… not sure if that’s true. I think they also said a drop of oil on it helps keep it nice.

  • it would not be so popular if it was bad
