The only thing in Camden that Happy Cow throws up that's not junk food or only has café opening hourse is Powerplant:

No idea what it's like. From the reviews it seems nice, but a bit pricey.
All in Camden:

Went to Smoke & Salt in Tooting the other day (formerly of pop-up in Brixton). Really excellent, good value and great, busy neighbourhood vibe. Recommended.

Big rec for Mollys Cafe in Hoxton, eaten there twice now and food was amazing both times.

After discovering it's all but impossible to book a fancy restaurant in London on a Friday night, managed to get an outside table at Casse-Croute in Bermondsey.
It was superb.

Casse-Croute in Bermondsey
SO good right? and its just by the LTN, my partner and I cycled there and back (drunk); was excellent. I think Loic suggested it.

I stumbled upon that place one lunchtime whilst out for a bimble.
I remember sitting at the bar, ordering lapin and vin de table, in French, whilst reading a book about le Tour, possibly all about Hinault.
I don't think I've ever felt more French.

bimble
Had to Google that. Surely, given the context, it should have been a Flânerie?
Let's stop going on about Casse-Croute now.

I went a couple of months ago. Super nice, and really good value!

Went to Morito last night on Hackney Road, nice food but a bit expensive for what are small plates (my other half selected the nice payday) dinner).
Any suggestions for places around Hackney Wick/Bow/Victoria Park area? Don't mind it being £50 a head...

Just had a long standing and long looked-forward to booking at New Street Grill cancelled as they are closing for a few days due to covid.
I’d wanted to go as they have a Josper Grill and I think it’s probably still the best steak I ever had.
Any recommendations for anything similar that’s central? Not Temper or BlackLock. Currently just planning to go to Hawksmoor.

Me, and the beautiful Mrs JJ are going to be in Florence for one night in May.
Where should we eat?
Would rather go somewhere viby than high-end, but open to ideas.
Thanks in advance.

There's only one answer to this. Trattoria Sostanza. I could eat that buttered chicken every day until it gave me a heart attack. Just delightful in every way.

Get a Florentine steak and white beans. Been to Florence twice and went straight back there. Going again this year and will be doing the same.

Yes, Florentine steak is good, but you can get a good steak in any big city in the world. Including at Sostanza! I once asked a Florentine colleague: 'if you can only eat at one restaurant in Florence for the rest of your life, which is it?' This place is legendary for a reason. I cannot recommend it enough. Maybe when I tell you that there are newspaper cuttings of Fausto visiting the restaurant on the wall, that'll convince you ;-)
This is a good read: https://www.elizabethminchilli.com/2011/12/trattoria-sostanza-florence/

Trattoria da burde is also a nice place
Whatever happens - take down a big steak and an even bigger bottle of red
Also go to the market and grab a lampredotto

trattoria mario and the tripe sandwich
semi-related; Brutto is good, the owner lives in Deptford and was in the Lewisham ledger

Booked a table at Pidgin in April for my birthday. Scenes, etc
Has anyone eaten at Oklava? Their halloumi looks delightful

Yeah - it’s good. Worth a visit if you haven’t been. Can’t say I’ve been itching to go back but that’s more due to volume of excellent restaurants.
Rochelle canteen on the other hand, I’ve now booked a table straight after every time I’ve been there. Love it.
Need to check dem out
