Modern middleburn cranks with a spider - do they just slot in and then stopped from moving by being bolted to the BB? Or is the spider screwed to the d/s crank arm?

Spider slots onto crank, secured with lockring.

Thanks very much, was trying to find a picture like that!

Is there a special tool for that lockring? and that looks to be a hollowtech 2 crank, with the axle being on the non drive crank, what is the equivalent to pinch bolts on a Shimano compact crankset?
