Is there a particular reason why new US patent illustrations look as though they were drawn in 1886?
My take is that they need to be precise enough to get the actual patent while leaving out as much info as possible so it's harder to copy

With patents you want them to be as broad as possible whilst still being narrow enough to be granted. Unnecessary specifics just lose you money later on (AFAIUI)
